Network Security Engineer (Fortinet) | Canberra | NV1 Clearance
We’re partnering with a high-performing cyber security consultancy delivering critical work across federal government environments. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to bring on a Network Security Engineer with strong Fortinet capability to support a major secure program of work in Canberra.
This is a hands-on role working across complex, high-assurance environments where security, performance, and reliability are key.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in the design, implementation, and support of secure network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Fortinet technologies. Working closely with internal cyber and infrastructure teams, you’ll help deliver and maintain robust, scalable solutions in sensitive environments.

The Role
You’ll play a key role in the design, implementation, and support of secure network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Fortinet technologies. Working closely with internal cyber and infrastructure teams, you’ll help deliver and maintain robust, scalable solutions in sensitive environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and implementing secure network solutions using Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer)
- Managing firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation across secure environments
- Supporting ongoing optimisation, monitoring, and incident response activities
- Troubleshooting complex networking and security issues across production environments
- Collaborating with cyber, infrastructure, and delivery teams to support project outcomes
- Ensuring alignment with government security standards and best practices
- Strong experience working with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate essential)
- Solid networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls)
- Experience working in secure or government environments
- Ability to operate in structured, high-trust environments with strong attention to detail
- Active NV1 clearance (minimum requirement)
- Fortinet certifications (NSE4–NSE7 or equivalent)
- Exposure to zero trust, network segmentation, and security frameworks
- Experience supporting large-scale government programs
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring or SIEM tools
