At ConnectedGroup, we are supporting an international non-profit organization dedicated to animal conservation and welfare in the search for their Director of Animal Welfare Educational Programs.

Reporting into senior leadership and leading a team, the Director will be responsible to lead the organisation’s education and outreach function, overseeing programme and curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, resource management, and impact evaluation to advance animal welfare education and community awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s education and outreach strategy, ensuring programmes support its mission and priorities.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programmes, training initiatives, workshops, presentations, and digital learning resources for a range of audiences, including students, professionals, and the wider community.
  • Develop and maintain educational content covering topics related to animal welfare, behaviour, wellbeing, and responsible animal care, ensuring materials are evidence-based, relevant, and accessible.
  • Manage, mentor, and support staff, volunteers, interns, and external contributors involved in programme delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, universities, community organisations, professional bodies, government stakeholders, and other external partners.
  • Lead community engagement activities, awareness campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives, while representing the organisation with external stakeholders when required.
  • Oversee programme budgets, grants, contracts, and the allocation of resources across education and training activities.
  • Monitor programme performance through data collection, reporting, and impact measurement, using findings to improve programme quality and effectiveness.
  • Support communications activities by contributing content for educational materials, websites, newsletters, and digital platforms.
  • Contribute to funding and grant applications by providing programme information, budgets, outcomes data, and other relevant input.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in education, animal science, biology, nonprofit management, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least five years of experience in education, programme management, community engagement, outreach, or a related area, ideally within the nonprofit, or animal welfare, sectors. Candidates with curriculum and educational program development experience in similar fields are also welcome.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing projects and budgets, and working with a broad range of stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience developing educational programmes, training materials, curricula, or learning resources for diverse audiences.
  • Good understanding of animal welfare, animal behaviour, humane education, or related subject areas.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage a variety of audiences.
  • Comfortable analysing data, measuring programme outcomes, and using insights to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Well organised, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, grant applications, or donor reporting would be beneficial.
  • Open to travelling across multiple jurisdictions.
  • The role can be based out of Hong Kong, Chengdu, or Hanoi.
