About the PositionThis is a VCE Specialist Mathematics position commencing January 2027, offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
The essential requirement is the ability to confidently teach Specialist Mathematics Units 3 & 4. The successful teacher will also have junior Mathematics classes included within their teaching load.
The College is looking for more than a general secondary Maths teacher. Applicants must have the mathematical subject knowledge, VCE curriculum experience and classroom capability required to take responsibility for a senior Specialist Mathematics class.
Full-time is preferred, however part-time may be negotiated for the right Specialist Mathematics teacher.
Who Will Be ShortlistedHARKE will prioritise teachers who can demonstrate:
- Current or previous experience teaching VCE Specialist Mathematics Units 3 & 4

Strong understanding of the Victorian VCE Mathematics curriculum and VCAA requirements

Experience with SAC assessment, moderation and preparation for external VCE examinations

Confidence teaching advanced Mathematics including calculus, vectors, complex numbers, functions, proof and mathematical reasoning

Strong CAS capability and the ability to integrate technology effectively into senior Mathematics teaching
-
Confidence teaching junior Mathematics alongside the Specialist Mathematics load
Experience teaching Mathematical Methods will also be highly regarded.
Skills and Responsibilities-
Deliver VCE Specialist Mathematics Units 3 & 4 in line with current VCAA requirements.

Plan, assess and moderate senior Mathematics coursework and prepare students for VCE examinations.

Deliver engaging junior Mathematics classes as part of the broader teaching load.

Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues.

Collaborate with the Mathematics faculty while maintaining strong student wellbeing and safeguarding practices.
- Registration: Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.
- Specialist Mathematics: Demonstrated capability to teach Specialist Mathematics Units 3 & 4 is essential.
- Work Rights: Full Australian working rights.
- Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process.
