This opportunity is suited to a teacher with genuine depth in senior Mathematics who can confidently deliver the Victorian VCE curriculum and support students through the academic demands of Specialist Mathematics.

About the PositionThis is a specialist senior Mathematics appointment.
HARKE is seeking a teacher with experience teaching VCE Specialist Mathematics Units 1–2 and/or Units 3–4, alongside the curriculum knowledge and mathematical capability to confidently deliver the full Specialist Mathematics pathway.
Previous experience teaching Units 3–4 is highly regarded, particularly where the teacher has been responsible for SAC assessment, exam preparation and supporting students through the demands of the Year 12 VCE program.
This is not simply a general Years 7–12 Mathematics vacancy. The school requires someone with strong subject expertise who can teach advanced mathematical concepts, develop students' reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, and maintain high academic expectations.
What We Are Looking ForThe strongest applicants will demonstrate:
- VCE Specialist Mathematics experience across Units 1–2 and/or Units 3–4.

The curriculum knowledge and subject expertise required to confidently deliver the full VCE Specialist Mathematics pathway.

Strong understanding of the Victorian VCE Mathematics curriculum and current VCAA requirements.

Experience planning and delivering advanced mathematical content including proof, vectors, complex numbers, functions, calculus, probability and mathematical modelling.

Confidence developing and assessing SACs and preparing students for external VCE examinations.

Strong knowledge of mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and non-routine application.

Confidence using CAS and other mathematical technologies within teaching, learning and assessment.

The ability to use assessment data, examination reports and student performance to inform teaching.

Clear, structured classroom practice that supports academically capable students while identifying gaps in understanding.

A collaborative approach to curriculum planning, moderation and senior Mathematics delivery.
Experience teaching Mathematical Methods alongside Specialist Mathematics would also be highly regarded.
Skills and Responsibilities-
Deliver engaging and academically rigorous VCE Specialist Mathematics across relevant Units 1–4.

Plan curriculum and assessment in line with current VCAA requirements.

Develop students' mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, modelling and proof skills.

Design, assess and moderate coursework and prepare students effectively for VCE examinations.

Monitor student progress and communicate clearly with students, families and colleagues.

Collaborate with the Mathematics faculty to maintain consistency across senior programs.

Maintain high standards of student wellbeing, safeguarding and classroom practice.
- Registration: Current VIT registration or eligibility to obtain registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- Specialist Experience: Experience teaching VCE Specialist Mathematics Units 1–2 and/or Units 3–4, with demonstrated capability to deliver the full senior pathway.
- Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential.
- Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
