Software Developer 6 Month Contract

The Role
As a Software Developer, you'll work within an agile development team to design, build and maintain scalable, secure and high-quality software solutions. You'll collaborate closely with product, QA, support and engineering teams while leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys solving complex problems, working across diverse technologies and contributing to products with meaningful social impact. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software features and applications
• Build scalable, secure and maintainable code
• Develop and support APIs and integrations
• Investigate and resolve production issues, bugs and performance bottlenecks
• Participate in code reviews, testing and CI/CD processes
• Work effectively within established codebases and large production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
• Utilise AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and similar platforms responsibly and effectively
• Contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives 

About You You'll bring:

• Commercial experience as a Software Developer within a professional development team
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms and relational databases
• Experience with object-oriented programming and modern web frameworks
• Solid SQL skills, ideally including PostgreSQL
• Experience building and supporting secure, scalable applications and REST APIs
• Strong understanding of Git, automated testing, code reviews and CI/CD practices
• Experience with cloud-hosted applications and containerisation technologies such as AWS and Docker
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• The ability to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks and domains
