Assistant Accountant - The Kids' Cancer Project

The Opportunity
Reporting to the CFO, you'll take ownership of the day to day finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll while supporting month end, BAS preparation and audit activities. This is a highly visible role where you'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation including fundraising, corporate partnerships, marketing and communications, IT and senior leadership.
This role would suit a proactive and systems savvy finance professional who enjoys transactional accounting but is also keen to contribute ideas around process improvement, technology and automation.

Key Responsibilities
- End to end accounts payable processing and supplier payments
- Accounts receivable management, invoicing and debtor follow up
- Fortnightly payroll processing for approximately 23 employees using Employment Hero
- Daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- General ledger reconciliations and journal processing
- BAS preparation for CFO review
- Support month end close activities and financial reporting
- Assist with annual audit requirements
- Work alongside the Systems Accountant to improve processes and maximise the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Prepare and maintain finance procedures and process documentation
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement, efficiencies and technology adoption
- Accounting qualification in progress, recently completed, or equivalent experience
- Experience with accounting software such as Business Central, Dynamics 365, Xero, QuickBooks or similar
- Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high transaction volumes
- Confident communication skills and willingness to ask questions
- A curious mindset and genuine interest in process improvement and new technologies
- Strong written skills with the ability to create process and procedure documentation
- Intermediate Excel skills
