Full Stack Engineer | Sydney | Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative technology firm as a Full Stack Engineer, shaping the next generation of cloud platform technology. As the experienced developer you will have experience building scalable SaaS applications on cloud infrastructure, as well as contributing to the design, development and enhancements of backend services.

• Reporting to the Head of Development, with the chance to influence product direction, not just close tickets

The role

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, webhooks and backend services consumed by connected devices, with an eye on performance and system design
• Design, optimise and maintain database structures, and build the data extraction and processing pipelines that sit behind them
• Use AWS to build secure, highly available systems, working with the team on CI/CD, deployments, infrastructure as code and scaling
• Own features end to end: design, build, deploy, monitor, iterate
• Work directly with clients and partners on requirements and troubleshooting, and give technical direction to external contractors

What you'll bring

• 5+ years in software development, ideally on SaaS or distributed systems
• 3+ years commercial JavaScript and TypeScript, including Node.js and Express.js
• Strong SQL: schema design, indexing, performance tuning and query optimisation
• Hands on AWS: EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, SNS/SQS
• A solid grasp of secure coding: authentication and authorisation, encryption, API security and OWASP practices

Also useful, though not essential: MQTT and IoT protocols (AWS IoT Core, Mosquitto, WebSockets), Angular, Docker and Kubernetes, Terraform, and experience building highly available systems with load balancers and failover.
