An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Procurement Lead to join an established and growing organisation operating within a specialised manufacturing and project-driven environment.

This is a key role with responsibility for leading end-to-end procurement and logistics activities, ensuring the business has the materials, equipment and services it needs to deliver complex projects on time, to quality requirements and in a commercially effective manner.

Working closely with senior management, production, finance and operations, you will take ownership of supplier relationships, sourcing, contract management, logistics and procurement improvement initiatives. This position would particularly suit someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on and wants the opportunity to make a genuine impact on procurement performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Program Management, your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing and supplier evaluation through to purchasing and delivery
  • Identifying, evaluating and developing suppliers capable of meeting quality, commercial and delivery requirements
  • Negotiating with suppliers and managing contracts for materials, equipment and services
  • Building strong supplier relationships and monitoring performance against contractual and quality requirements
  • Managing logistics across land, sea and air, including associated documentation
  • Working closely with production, finance and operations to ensure procurement aligns with project and business requirements
  • Supporting project delivery through effective Bill of Materials (BOM) management
  • Monitoring inventory requirements, forecasting demand and helping maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Tracking orders and proactively addressing potential supply or delivery issues
  • Maintaining accurate procurement information within the organisation's ERP system
  • Providing procurement estimates and lead-time information for tenders and project budgets
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings, supplier improvements and procurement efficiencies
  • Assessing and mitigating supply chain and procurement risks
  • Using procurement and supplier data to support informed business decisions
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives across the business
About You

We are looking for an experienced procurement professional who can confidently manage complex supplier and stakeholder relationships while maintaining a strong focus on commercial outcomes, quality and delivery.

Ideally, you will bring:
  • At least 5 years' experience in procurement and logistics, ideally within a complex manufacturing, engineering, project or technical environment
  • Experience managing procurement of materials, equipment and services
  • Strong supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation and contract management capability
  • Experience with warehouse/inventory management and complex supply requirements
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in quality assurance and procurement/supply-chain risk management
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify cost and process improvements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Office capability
  • Experience working with ERP systems, with NetSuite experience highly regarded
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience within marine, maritime or defence-related procurement and logistics would be highly regarded, as would formal procurement/logistics qualifications and knowledge of LEAN or Six Sigma methodologies.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional looking to take ownership of a critical business function within a specialised, project-driven organisation.

You will work closely with key decision-makers and have the opportunity to influence supplier strategy, procurement processes, cost efficiencies, inventory management and operational performance while supporting the successful delivery of complex projects.

If you are a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys solving supply-chain challenges, developing strong supplier partnerships and improving the way procurement operates, we would love to hear from you.
