SB Recruitment are partnering exclusively with a well established, founder led, successful business to appoint a Web Developer into their growing team. With a loyal customer base and a clear mandate from leadership to modernise their digital presence, this is a hands on role with real ownership from day one.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for upgrading and maintaining a portfolio of existing websites, working closely with the business's SEO specialist to build out customer tracking and drive measurable improvements in site performance.

The Role...
Reporting into the IT Manager, you will take ownership of five existing WordPress and WooCommerce websites, currently in need of a full upgrade. This starts as a project to bring each site up to modern standards, transitioning into an ongoing maintenance role once the upgrade work is complete. You will work alongside the SEO specialist to track customer data and build the reporting infrastructure to support it.

What You'll Own...

• Website upgrades — audit and rebuild five existing WordPress and WooCommerce sites, improving speed, structure and usability
• Custom development — build and maintain custom themes and plugins, not limited to page builder templates
• Payment and integrations — implement and maintain payment gateways and third party API integrations within WooCommerce
• Performance, accessibility and SEO — apply front end best practice across all sites, and work with the SEO specialist to support organic visibility
• Customer data tracking — build and maintain the tracking infrastructure needed to capture and report on customer behaviour
• Release management — manage a controlled staging to production process using Git, protecting site stability with every deployment
• Ongoing maintenance — once upgrades are complete, take ownership of day to day site health, updates and support

What You'll Bring...

• Solid commercial experience building and maintaining WordPress and WooCommerce sites
• Strong PHP, plus HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with genuine custom theme and plugin development experience
• Experience integrating payment gateways and third party APIs into WooCommerce
• A solid grasp of front end performance, accessibility and SEO fundamentals
• Comfortable working with Git and a controlled release process
• Graduate level through to 2 plus years experience, ideal for someone ready to take real ownership early in their career

Delivery Priorities...

• Audit all five existing websites and prioritise the upgrade roadmap
• Begin the rebuild of the highest priority sites, working to modern performance and accessibility standards
• Establish a proper staging to production workflow if one is not already in place
• Work with the SEO specialist to scope and build out customer tracking
