Head of Valuation and IFRS Actuary

Monroe Consulting Group is partnering with a leading reinsurance company looking for Head of Actuary.

This role will lead the actuarial function, covering valuation, reserving, and IFRS 17 reporting, while playing a critical role in strengthening financial performance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The position offers high visibility and direct engagement with senior leadership in driving strategic actuarial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all actuarial functions, including valuation, reserving, and IFRS 17 reporting
• Ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical reserves and liabilities
• Oversee the calculation and analysis of key IFRS 17 components, including Contractual Service Margin (CSM)
• Provide actuarial insights to support business strategy, profitability analysis, and risk management
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Risk, and Underwriting teams to ensure alignment across functions
• Act as the main point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators
• Strengthen actuarial governance, controls, and documentation standards
• Drive improvements in actuarial models, systems, and processes
• Lead, develop, and manage the actuarial team to build strong technical capabilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Minimum ASAI (Associate of the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia); FSAI is highly preferred
• Extensive experience in actuarial roles within insurance or reinsurance (life or general)
• Strong expertise in:
  • IFRS 17 reporting
  • Actuarial valuation and reserving
• Proven leadership experience managing actuarial teams
• Experience working with auditors, regulators, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to operate in a dynamic and evolving business environment
• Proficient in English (written and spoken)
