Principal Advisor Digital Services

We are seeking a Principal Advisor to join a high-performing Digital Services team, providing expert advice and leadership across information security governance, compliance, risk management, and digital assurance initiatives.

The Opportunity In this role, you will play a key part in strengthening the department's information security and governance capability by driving initiatives that improve compliance, reduce risk, and support the ongoing maturity of digital services.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to provide expert guidance on governance frameworks, risk management practices, information security controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate information security governance and assurance activities.
• Drive the ongoing development and maturity of the organisation's Information Security Management System (ISMS).
• Monitor compliance obligations, identify risks, and support remediation activities.
• Manage governance reporting, risk registers, audits, and assurance processes.
• Provide strategic advice on ICT governance, policy, and process improvement initiatives.
• Investigate incidents and assess the effectiveness of security and information management controls.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive business outcomes.
• Prepare executive reports, briefings, presentations, and governance documentation.

About You You will bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Information Security Governance
• ICT Governance & Assurance
• Cyber Security Risk & Compliance
• Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
• Information Management
• Risk Management and Audit
• Digital Governance or Technology Assurance

You will also demonstrate:

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience developing governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• The ability to analyse complex issues and provide practical recommendations.
• Experience working within large, complex organisations, ideally within government or regulated environments.
• Strong reporting, documentation, and governance capabilities.

Desirable Experience

• Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)
• ISO 27001 or similar governance frameworks
• PRINCE2, Agile, or project delivery environments
• ITIL or Information Management practices
• Queensland Government or public sector experience
