Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist

Are you an experienced nurse with specialist expertise in respiratory care and a passion for developing high-quality, patient-centred services?

We are seeking an ambitious, innovative and highly motivated Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to establish and lead a new Respiratory Specialist Nursing Service within our acute private hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced respiratory nurse to take a leading role in shaping and developing a specialist service from the ground up. Working alongside our established respiratory experts, the successful candidate will develop a patient-centred CNS service designed to enhance clinical outcomes, promote excellence in respiratory care and support the strategic development of respiratory services across the hospital.

Working collaboratively with Consultant Respiratory Physicians, Nursing Leadership, Allied Health Professionals and wider multidisciplinary teams, the Respiratory CNS will play a key role in developing and implementing evidence-based pathways of care for patients with a broad range of respiratory conditions.

These will include, but are not limited to:

• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

• Asthma

• Bronchiectasis

• Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)

• Other acute and chronic respiratory conditions

The successful candidate will also contribute to patient optimisation, education, care coordination, clinical governance, quality improvement and the ongoing development of respiratory nursing practice.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Current registration as a Registered General Nurse on the General Division of the Register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

• A minimum of five years’ post-registration clinical experience.

• At least two years’ recent experience in respiratory nursing or a relevant respiratory clinical specialty.

• A Level 8 qualification in Nursing.

• Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to respiratory care.

• Experience in service development, project management and/or quality improvement.

• Completion of, or willingness to undertake, relevant education and professional development in Clinical Nurse Specialist practice.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare or a related discipline.

• Nurse Prescribing qualification, or a willingness to undertake the qualification.

• Experience in the development and delivery of comprehensive patient and family education programmes focused on respiratory illness, self-management and patient optimisation.

• Experience in developing and implementing clinical pathways, protocols and evidence-based respiratory care programmes.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to service innovation.
