Senior Financial Accountant - SAP Project

The Organisation
This is a large, well-established Australian business currently undertaking a significant SAP transformation programme, migrating onto a single unified platform. To support delivery of this project, the finance function is bringing on a small team of specialists to own the business side of the migration.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the project team, each reporting into a dedicated Workstream Lead within the finance function. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role centred on the data side of the migration: cleansing, validating, and preparing financial data ahead of go-live. It's an ideal next step for finance professionals from a Big 4, audit, or financial accounting background looking to build genuine SAP transformation experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute hands-on data profiling to identify duplicates, inactive records, formatting inconsistencies, and missing values within legacy data
• Cleanse data across sub-ledgers and master data fields, including vendors, customers, assets, profit centres, and cost centres, to ensure migration readiness
• Coordinate with finance subject matter experts to gather, verify, and correct master data inputs
• Map and format legacy data fields into standardised SAP templates in line with transformation rules
• Execute data load tests and perform pre- and post-load reconciliations to verify completeness and accuracy
• Investigate and resolve data load errors, correcting issues in source data or templates
• Document validation cycles and maintain clear audit trails of cleansed and migrated data
• Provide hands-on support during data cutover and early post-go-live troubleshooting
• Support the preparation of training and process documentation relating to data standards

Skills Needed

• CA or CPA qualified, or strong progress towards qualification
• Background in financial accounting, audit, or transactional finance, with a solid understanding of ledgers, cost and profit centres
• Hands-on experience with SAP highly regarded
• Prior exposure to data migration, data cleansing, or finance system transformation highly regarded
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power Query, Power BI, or SQL advantageous
• Excellent attention to detail and comfort working with large, complex datasets
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical business stakeholders
