The Company

My client is a global OEM specialising in industrial power transmission, rotating equipment, motion control, and mechanical drive solutions supporting manufacturing, food & beverage, packaging, materials handling, water, utilities, and heavy industrial sectors worldwide.

Their product portfolio spans gearboxes, couplings, bearings, conveyor technologies, drive systems, motion control products, and broader rotating equipment solutions utilised across critical industrial infrastructure and industrial processing environments.

Due to continued growth, they now seek a Technical Sales Engineer to join their Melbourne team, supporting major industrial customers throughout Victoria.

The Role

This position will focus on managing and developing customer relationships across Melbourne and regional Victoria, supporting a diverse customer base across manufacturing, industrial processing, materials handling, food production, utilities, and OEM markets.

Candidates can be based anywhere within the Melbourne metropolitan area.

The role will involve exposure to:

• Manufacturing facilities
• Food & beverage processing plants
• Materials handling and conveyor operations
• Packaging and production facilities
• Water and wastewater utilities
• OEMs and industrial machine builders
• Industrial maintenance contractors
• Shutdown and maintenance environments

You will work closely with Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Procurement teams, Plant Managers, Engineering Managers, and Operations personnel across a wide range of industrial customers throughout Victoria.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing strategic customer relationships
• Driving rotating equipment and power transmission sales growth
• Supporting maintenance, upgrade, and reliability projects
• Identifying brownfield and greenfield opportunities
• Managing key industrial customer accounts
• Conducting regular customer and site visits
• Providing technical and commercial product support
• Building long-term relationships with key decision makers

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• 5+ years' sales experience within industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, or technical product environments
• Exposure to rotating equipment, power transmission, pumps, conveyors, bearings, couplings, gearboxes, electric motors, or related industrial products
• Strong customer relationship and business development capability
• Practical industry knowledge and credibility with technical customers
• Ability to confidently engage with plant-based decision makers
• Strong commercial drive and autonomous work ethic
• Mechanical Engineering degree, Mechanical Fitter, or trade-qualified background highly regarded
• Hands-on experience with rotating equipment highly regarded
• Existing manufacturing or industrial customer networks highly regarded
• Familiarity with plant maintenance, reliability, and shutdown environments highly regarded
• Open to mechanically minded candidates transitioning from hands-on industrial or manufacturing backgrounds into technical sales, particularly those with strong site exposure, industrial networks, and experience working within maintenance and operational environments
