Japanese CFO

We are currently supporting a dynamic B2B startup operating in Southeast Asia that is revolutionizing procurement and supply chain processes in the hospitality and retail sectors. The company has recently secured significant funding and is entering a new growth phase, marked by geographical expansion, product development, and strategic investments. As part of this next chapter, they are seeking a highly capable Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead their financial strategy and support long-term business objectives.

About the Role

The CFO will be based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (or available for long-term presence), and will play a critical leadership role in steering the company’s financial infrastructure during a high-growth, pre-IPO stage. Working closely with the CEO and executive team, the CFO will drive corporate finance, capital strategy, and regulatory preparation aligned with the firm’s global ambitions, including a planned move toward IPO readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate structure transition and coordinate regulatory compliance during headquarters relocation.
• Oversee preparation for public listing, including financial, tax, and accounting system enhancements.
• Develop and execute capital strategy, including equity fundraising, debt financing, and subsidy applications.
• Manage budgeting processes, cash flow forecasting, and financial modeling and analysis.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions.
• Establish and supervise internal controls, compliance systems, and audit readiness.
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
• Provide ongoing financial insight and reporting to the executive team.
• Drive M&A initiatives, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing opportunities.

Requirements

Essential:

• Japanese nationality or strong familiarity with Japanese accounting and IPO regulations.
• Experience in corporate finance and/or M&A.
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a startup environment.
• Willingness to reside in or frequently travel to Ho Chi Minh City for the long term.

Preferred:

• Prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with IPO preparation or financial leadership in a listed company.
• Work experience in international or Southeast Asian markets, especially Vietnam.
• Background in startup finance operations.
• CPA, tax accountant, or other relevant certifications.
