The opportunity

Are you an experienced international sales professional with an established network across the equine, animal nutrition or agricultural markets?

This could be an opportunity to make a real impact within a family-owned British business with almost 50 years of experience in equine nutrition and supplementation.

With products manufactured on site and made to order, the business has built its reputation around quality, science-led formulations and a genuine understanding of equine nutrition. It is a small but ambitious team, with significant potential to grow its presence across international markets.

They're now looking for an Export Sales & Business Manager to take that growth to the next level.

This is a genuinely global role. Europe represents an exciting area of growth, but the remit extends across international markets, so we're looking for someone who already understands international distribution and ideally has an established network of contacts they can leverage.

This is not simply an account management role. You'll be expected to identify new markets, open doors, find the right distributors and commercial partners, and turn those relationships into profitable, sustainable business.

Key responsibilities

International Business Development
  • Develop and execute international sales strategies across global markets.
  • Identify and develop new territories, distributors, agents, retailers and commercial partners.
  • Proactively prospect for new business and generate opportunities through your existing network.
  • Research market trends, customer needs and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth.
Sales & Account Management
  • Deliver export sales and profitability targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international distributors, agents and key customers.
  • Develop long-term partnerships and maximise opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial agreements and contracts.
International Market Development
  • Develop territory plans and sales forecasts.
  • Identify effective routes to market and opportunities for market penetration.
  • Provide insight into international markets to support wider commercial and product development.
  • Monitor market risks, currency fluctuations and developments that may affect international trade.
Brand Representation
  • Represent the business internationally at customer meetings, trade shows and industry events.
  • Build the company's profile and reputation within relevant equine, feed and animal nutrition markets.
  • Act as a credible and knowledgeable ambassador for a quality British brand.
Export Operations & Compliance
  • Ensure international sales activity complies with export regulations, customs requirements and international trade legislation.
  • Work closely with logistics, operations and finance to ensure efficient order fulfilment.
  • Oversee export documentation and shipping processes.
How will success be measured?

You'll have clear commercial objectives, with performance measured against:
  • Export sales revenue growth
  • New customer acquisition
  • Market expansion and territory development
  • Gross profit margin
  • Customer retention and satisfaction
  • Forecast accuracy
  • Export compliance and operational efficiency
This is a role where you'll be able to see the direct impact of your work: opening new markets, building distribution networks and contributing to the continued international growth of an established British business.

What are we looking for?

We're much more interested in what you've achieved than the qualifications you have.

Ideally, you'll already have experience in export sales, international business development or commercial management, with a proven track record of developing international distribution and delivering sales growth.

Experience within the equine sector would be particularly valuable, but we're also open to candidates from animal nutrition, feed or the wider agricultural markets.

We're particularly interested in people who have:
  • Existing relationships with international distributors, agents, retailers or commercial partners.
  • A strong understanding of international distribution and routes to market.
  • A proven ability to identify and develop new territories.
  • A genuine hunter mentality and the drive to create new business rather than simply manage an existing customer base.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • The confidence to build relationships across different international markets and cultures.
  • Experience working autonomously and managing multiple international accounts.
  • An understanding of export procedures, international trade and compliance.
  • The enthusiasm to travel extensively and represent a business at international events and exhibitions.
A degree is not essential. Your practical experience, industry knowledge, commercial results and international network are far more important.

Why join?

You'll be joining a business with nearly five decades of experience, an established reputation for quality and a strong product proposition, while still having the agility of a small, entrepreneurial team.
More importantly, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the next phase of its international growth.

If you're someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and turning untapped markets into successful territories, this role gives you the scope to make a real difference.

Salary: £50,000–£65,000 basic + bonus/commission, with travel expenses covered.

Location: Ideally within commuting distance of the company's East Anglia site, although a field-based arrangement will be considered for the right candidate.

International travel: Significant travel will be required as part of the role.

If you're an experienced export or international sales professional with the network, commercial drive and industry knowledge to take on this opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
