Finance Business Analyst

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Finance Business Analyst, Operations Planning and Analysis role with a leading energy organization. This position supports the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of Midstream Operations spending by bringing together financial data, operational insights, and cross-functional planning. The successful candidate will help improve capital planning, strengthen cost visibility, and identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs.

Responsibilities:

• Support governance of the Midstream Operations maintenance capital portfolio, including actual and forecast spend tracking.
• Maintain accurate spend data and provide clear visibility into capital performance.
• Prepare AFE documentation and support the authorization process for capital expenditures.
• Partner with Finance, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve capital and investment planning.
• Analyze data from systems such as JD Edwards, Workday, and other internal sources to develop meaningful business insights.
• Track key performance indicators and prepare reporting on operating costs, G&A, and related measures.
• Support labour allocation planning across operating assets and capital projects.
• Organize and maintain documentation for Operations Planning and Analysis activities.
• Ensure operational cost information is accurate, well-documented, and communicated effectively.
• Review performance trends and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Support process improvement initiatives across Operations Planning and Analysis.
• Contribute to the implementation of an Integrated Business Planning tool.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Experience with financial or statistical modelling is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Engineering, and Operations.
• Curious, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of work.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Power BI is an asset.
• Experience with JD Edwards is an asset.
• Knowledge of operations such as rail, freight management, carrier selection, or routing optimization is an asset.
• Midstream energy experience is an asset.

Remuneration

• $65/hr - $80/hr
