Private Equity Finance

Introduction:

We are seeking a skilled professional for the position of Assistant Vice President in Private Equity Finance, based in Tokyo. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in fund accounting and finance, and experience in private equity products. You will play a critical role in supporting our private equity business team and ensuring the accurate and timely management of financial reporting and client services.

About the Role:

As an Assistant Vice President in Private Equity Finance, you will support our private equity business team by managing fund accounting for various private equity products, including separate accounts and commingled funds. You will handle financial statements, respond to client inquiries, and collaborate with both local and global finance teams. Your responsibilities will encompass accounting, financial reporting, and operational support for a diverse range of private equity investments.

Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting and financial services for private equity products, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Address and investigate inquiries related to financial statements from the business team or clients.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for private equity investments, including detailed cash projections for liquidity reporting.
• Assist in preparing limited partner (LP) specific reports and responses to client RFPs.
• Collaborate with investor relations to address LP questions and requests.
• Handle various ad-hoc tasks from senior management and portfolio managers.
• Work closely with the finance team in Tokyo and the global finance team in New York to support operational and financial activities.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of accounting theory, fund accounting, and financial reporting.
• At least 3 years of accounting or finance experience; CPA certification is a plus but not required.
• Preferred experience in fund accounting and financing for private equity strategies, especially in fund-of-funds (FoFs) at domestic or international private equity firms.
• Previous experience as a fund controller at a private equity firm is advantageous.
• Fluent or business-level proficiency in English to communicate with the global finance team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
• Proactive, flexible, and able to work with speed and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
• Proficiency in email and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, management, and external agencies to achieve performance and problem-solving objectives.
