Our client is a Singapore-headquartered healthcare investment platform that partners with founders and business owners across Asia to build and grow businesses in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, diagnostics, and life sciences sectors. Operating a decentralised, founder-friendly model, they back strong local operators and support their portfolio companies through capital, networks, and commercial enablement. As part of their regional expansion, they are establishing their first presence in Malaysia and are seeking an Associate Director, M&A to serve as the lead for deal origination, investment evaluation, and portfolio support across the country.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Investment in Singapore, you will serve as the platform's first and senior on-the-ground presence in Malaysia. Your primary mandate is proprietary deal origination which include building market coverage across the Malaysian healthcare ecosystem, engaging founders, owner-managers, and intermediaries, and developing a high-quality M&A pipeline from identification through to diligence readiness. You will lead and coordinate due diligence workstreams, driving financial, commercial, and governance diligence and preparing structured investment analyses and recommendations for Group leadership.

Beyond deal activity, you will support portfolio companies in Malaysia by identifying commercial opportunities, facilitating cross-platform collaboration, and helping translate the platform's regional network into local advantage. You will also maintain market intelligence on the Malaysian healthcare landscape and provide regular pipeline and portfolio updates to the Group. Regular travel to Singapore for in-person coordination will be expected.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is someone with at least 5 years of experience in M&A, private equity, investment banking, corporate development, or transaction advisory, with a track record of deal sourcing and due diligence coordination in Malaysia or Southeast Asia. You should have solid financial and commercial analysis capabilities, including valuation, business model assessment, and earnings quality review.

Experience in healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or medical devices is strongly preferred. A strong network across Malaysian founders, owner-managers, and intermediaries will be a significant advantage.
