Body in White (BiW) Project Manager

Job Title: Project Manager

Job Overview:

This persons’s responsibility is to grow Body in White business by developing successful Body in White designs in collaboration with Japanese OEM as his/her customers in charge. He/She directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of the assigned customer project development.

Essential Functions and Skills:

• Primary point of communication interface to the customer for the respective program(s) within our client's business unit as well as all the deliverables that are in the program they will manage.

• Actively searches for potential to apply Our Client's BiW technology in component design.

• Reviews customer product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

• Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.

• Coordinates / monitors project documentation, timelines and schedules, technical performance, production, quality deliverables, and corrective action initiatives throughout product launch(s).

• Prepares and communicates program status in meetings to management steering committee and escalates critical issues. Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.

• Manages prototype orders and samples for customers.

• Participates in cross functional development teams within the company (tooling, material, simulation, production, quality, industrialization groups) to develop and communicate program deliverables, priorities ,and timeline targets based on customer derived expectations and internal requirements.

• Identifies project staffing requirements and coordinates staffing with supporting organization managers.

• Interfaces with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Mechanical Engineering or another Technical / Engineering Degree

• Strong technical background that includes knowledge of body in white development including part development, forming, and joining with a special focus on Asian car manufacturers and automotive suppliers.

• Three to five years of experience in automotive manufacturing and /or engineering and sales driven businesses

• Good understanding of cross-functional responsibilities within body in white design.

• Must possess moderately advanced usage of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint); must be/become proficient in company & customer systems.

• Experience working in an Asian automotive supplier or OEM
