Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Apply directOur client is building dedicated GPU infrastructure for demanding AI workloads. From their base in Australia, they support organisations and distributed teams across global markets, with a particular focus on Europe. Their NeoCloud proposition covers AI training, fine-tuning, inference and data-intensive workloads. It brings together bare-metal GPU capacity, high-speed networking and storage, secure access, hybrid integration, monitoring and ongoing operations.
They are seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead this business end to end.
This is not a strategy-only CTO position. You will be accountable for the architecture, deployment and operation of their NeoCloud platform. You will set the technical direction, build the team and operating model, guide infrastructure investment, support strategic customers and ensure that every production commitment is technically sound, operationally supportable and commercially sensible.
What you will own
You will lead the full infrastructure lifecycle, from workload discovery and capacity planning through architecture, procurement, commissioning, customer onboarding and production operations. Your remit will include:
- the technical strategy, roadmap and reference architecture for the NeoCloud platform;
- GPU compute, high-performance networking, storage, platform software, automation, observability and security;
- data-centre and deployment readiness, hardware integration, benchmarking, acceptance and production handover;
- service reliability, performance, capacity, incident response, change control, business continuity and operational support;
- customer solution design, technical due diligence, onboarding and senior technical engagement;
- GPU utilisation, deployment economics, technology refresh and supplier performance; and
- the recruitment, leadership and development of a high-calibre infrastructure, platform and operations team.
You will work closely with the CEO on investment priorities, partnerships, major customer commitments and business growth. You will also be expected to remain close to the technology: reviewing architecture, resolving difficult delivery decisions and taking command when a major production issue demands senior ownership.
What you will bring
You will have led both the build and operation of production-grade infrastructure in GPU cloud, high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, data centres, hosting, telecommunications or a closely related field. You will combine executive leadership with genuine technical depth across bare-metal compute, Linux, networking, storage, orchestration, automation, observability, identity and security.
You should be able to demonstrate that you have:
- taken complex infrastructure from design and procurement into reliable live operation;
- led production operations with accountability for availability, performance, incidents, capacity and cost;
- worked directly with GPU or other accelerator platforms and understand the demands of distributed AI workloads;
- improved reliability, utilisation, deployment speed or unit economics through measurable action;
- built and led strong engineering and operations teams;
- made sound commercial decisions involving capital, suppliers, customer requirements and delivery risk; and
- communicated credibly with engineers, enterprise customers, executives, investors and strategic partners.
Experience with multi-node GPU clusters, high-bandwidth Ethernet, RoCE or InfiniBand, scalable storage, Kubernetes or Slurm, and the NVIDIA or AMD accelerator ecosystem would be valuable. So would experience with high-density data-centre deployment, enterprise security, multi-tenant infrastructure or international operations.
Formal qualifications are welcome, but they are not a substitute for evidence that you have built and operated critical infrastructure successfully.
The person we are looking for
You will bring clarity to difficult decisions and own the consequences. You will be rigorous without becoming bureaucratic, commercially grounded without compromising operational integrity, and confident enough to invite challenge from strong specialists. You will know when to design for the future and when to solve today’s problem simply and reliably.
Most importantly, you will understand that a GPU infrastructure company succeeds through execution. Capacity must arrive when promised. Clusters must perform consistently. Customers must be onboarded safely. Incidents must be managed decisively. Capital must be deployed with discipline.
Our client’s proposition is straightforward: technology should be planned, supplied, deployed and supported as one accountable service.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the platform, organisation and operating model of a growing infrastructure business. The scope is broad, the standards are high and the outcomes will be visible.
