About the role
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking an APS6 Assessment Officer to join the team that administers the Prescribed List of Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products. About the role
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking an APS6 Assessment Officer to join the team that administers the Prescribed List of Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products. You will assess a high volume of time-sensitive applications and listings, working with clinical experts and advisory committee members.
What you will do
- Assess Prescribed List applications and listings, from screening and analysis through to a written recommendation
- Review existing listings and reconcile device details to identify and correct errors
- Research clinical and health technology assessment (HTA) questions, drawing on expert advice where needed
- Prepare reports, briefings and correspondence for applicants and committee members
- Communicate outcomes to sponsors and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of medical devices, HTA or device reimbursement, or the ability to build it quickly
- Ability to review and analyse technical and clinical information with attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication, tailored to the audience
- Ability to plan and prioritise your own workload in a changing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Up to 38.5 hours per week
- Start date 23 October 2026 or earlier
- Based in Canberra, full time in the office for the first two weeks, then a minimum of three days per week
- Australian citizenship is required
- No security clearance required
- A National Police Check issued within the last three months is required, at your own cost
