Senior Legal Advisor, Construction

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Legal Advisor, Construction Disputes to join its legal team. This role will focus on providing legal support on construction-related matters across major projects and stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent legal advice on construction matters to the Projects Division and other internal stakeholders

• Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of construction-related documents, including contracts, consultancy agreements, insurance, and IP-related matters

• Manage ongoing construction disputes and related legal issues, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers

• Supervise assistant legal staff, external solicitors, counsel, and consultants to ensure effective case management, budget control, timely delivery, and strong quality standards

• Attend meetings with project teams and prepare papers on disputes, settlements, claims, and legal strategy

• Handle other legal duties as assigned

Requirements

• Around 6–9 years of post-qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister in Hong Kong or another common law jurisdiction

• Construction and infrastructure experience, ideally including government or public-sector projects in Hong Kong

• Strong experience in construction contract drafting and dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation

• Exposure to public bodies, government departments, or private practice handling construction/infrastructure disputes is a strong advantage

• Able to work under pressure and respond quickly

• Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese
