Who's hiring?
For over 25 years, Caledonia Group has delivered scaffolding, rope access, insulation, cladding and engineering solutions across the mining, energy, infrastructure and commercial sectors in Australia, New Zealand and beyond. We support some of the biggest and most complex projects in the region, backed by uncompromising safety standards and a leadership team with deep industry experience. Just as importantly, we're a genuinely good place to work — a close, down-to-earth crew that's small enough that everyone knows everyone, where people pick up the phone rather than fire off an email, and where Friday afternoons, team lunches and the odd toolbox pizza are all part of how the place ticks. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Financial Accountant to keep our reporting sharp and our numbers telling a clear story.
So, what's the role?
Reporting to an experienced Finance Director, you'll take ownership of month-end management and reporting across the Group. You'll work closely alongside the broader finance team, and partner with Directors and operational teams — including Claims and Contracts Administrators across SA, WA, NSW and New Zealand — to make sure the numbers land with the people who rely on them.
There's a real appetite here for someone who'll improve things rather than simply maintain them — the general ledger could do with a tidy, and there's scope to sharpen reporting, controls and systems as you go. It's an ideal role for someone with sound technical grounding who's ready to take on more than their current position allows.
Here's what a typical week might look like:
You're someone who enjoys getting into the detail, takes pride in accurate work and likes building relationships across a business rather than staying behind the numbers. You're proactive, organised and happiest when you're improving a process, not just keeping it running.
Technically speaking, you:

- Producing monthly management packs with variance analysis and commentary — and the operational insight that helps teams act on them
- Completing intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations across all entities
- Supporting the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts and job/project profitability analysis
- Delivering KPIs and decision-support to the Finance Director and operational leaders
- Preparing weekly and monthly cashflow forecasts, monitoring working capital and supporting banking and financing arrangements
- Owning compliance across the Group, including BAS, and strengthening financial controls, governance and the annual audit
- Approving payroll and supporting the wider finance team
- Driving process and system improvements across finance and reporting

Technically speaking, you:
- Hold a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CA or CPA completed or underway
- Have sound financial accounting fundamentals — month-end close, journals, accruals and reconciliations
- Bring strong compliance skills — including BAS — along with balance sheet reconciliation experience
- Have exposure to multi-entity reporting and consolidation, or the appetite to pick it up quickly
- Are a confident communicator who can work with Directors and operational teams and explain the numbers to people outside finance
- Bring the kind of operational insight that turns reporting into something teams can act on
- Have working knowledge of payroll (an advantage)
- Have experience with MYOB and Xero, or similar systems including Modano (an advantage)
What's in it for you?
- Join a $100m+ national construction business in a stable, growing sector
- Work alongside an experienced Finance Director and respected leadership team
- A down-to-earth team where everyone knows everyone, with flexible core hours and one day a week from home
- A long-term, secure career path with genuine room to grow
- Competitive salary
