Construction Manager - Civil

About the Role

Lead the civil construction scope on a major utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System and substation project in regional NSW.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager – Substation, you will manage supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and plant providers across earthworks, drainage, concrete foundations, roads, structures, trenches and associated civil works.

The project comprises a 250MW / 1,100MWh BESS connecting into the adjacent Yanco Substation. The successful candidate will coordinate civil delivery with electrical installation, major equipment logistics and commissioning requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead civil construction planning, staging, methodologies, temporary works and resource allocation.
• Manage supervisors, Site Engineers, civil subcontractors, plant, labour and daily site productivity.
• Deliver earthworks, drainage, roads, hardstands, fencing, concrete foundations, trenches, conduits and structural works.
• Coordinate foundation tolerances, embeds, penetrations and civil handovers with electrical and equipment-installation teams.
• Drive short-term planning, subcontractor performance, cost control, recovery planning and accurate site records.
• Implement HSE, environmental, ITP, survey, testing, NCR and quality requirements across all civil work fronts.

Skills & Experience

• Construction Manager, Civil Superintendent or senior civil site leadership experience.
• Demonstrated delivery of substation, transmission, renewable energy, industrial or major infrastructure civil works.
• Strong experience across bulk earthworks, drainage, concrete foundations, roads, structures, trenches and services.
• Proven subcontractor, plant, labour, program, productivity and site-cost management capability.
• Experience coordinating civil-electrical interfaces and equipment foundation tolerances.
• Sound knowledge of ITPs, lot records, survey controls, temporary works and construction quality systems.

A civil engineering, construction management or related qualification is preferred, although equivalent practical construction experience will be considered. A White Card, current driver licence and Australian work rights are required.
