Apply directWe're recruiting a Senior Project Accountant for an opportunity that combines financial reporting, business partnering, and process improvement within a growing multi-entity organization. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys looking beyond the numbers, strengthening financial processes, and supporting accurate, timely reporting across multiple business units.
Working closely with the Corporate Controller, you'll play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, technical accounting, and identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
What You'll Do
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Prepare and review financial statements for multiple legal entities.
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions.
- Review accounting transactions and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
- Monitor indirect tax reporting and support compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and other key accounting schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
- Investigate accounting issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Support external audit activities by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Assist with accounting for organizational growth initiatives and other special projects.
- Act as a technical accounting resource, providing guidance and support to the finance team.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation, or progress toward obtaining one, is preferred.
- Approximately 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, consolidations, and month-end accounting.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations; exposure to international operations is considered an asset.
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is considered an asset.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization.
