About the Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee the full controllership function across multiple business entities. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, month-end close, project accounting, process improvements, and ERP optimization while partnering closely with operations and senior leadership to support business growth and strategic initiatives.
What You'll Do
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across multiple entities
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, dashboards, and key performance metrics
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis
- Coordinate external audits, tax compliance, and year-end reporting requirements
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards
Project & Operational Accounting
- Oversee project accounting, including cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, progress billings, and project profitability analysis
- Partner with project and operational leaders to monitor budgets, costs, and financial performance
- Manage inventory, fixed assets, capital projects, and intercompany accounting
- Review complex account reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records
- Support multiple business units with financial insights and operational reporting
Process Improvement & Systems
- Lead ERP optimization initiatives and continuously improve financial workflows
- Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve operational efficiency
- Maintain financial master data and strengthen internal controls
- Support the adoption of emerging technologies and automation tools within the finance function
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance operations
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership on financial strategy and business planning
- Provide financial analysis to support investment decisions, business growth, and special projects
- Work cross-functionally with operations, project management, and external advisors
- Participate in strategic initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and process enhancement projects
What You'll Bring
- CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Experience within construction, real estate, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other project-based industries is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of multi-entity accounting, consolidations, project accounting, and financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems and leading system or process improvements
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities with experience partnering with senior executives
- A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in automation and modern finance technology
