The Role
Working as part of a specialist practice area, this is a commercial finance role offering close exposure to senior leadership. The role plays a key part in providing financial insight and support to drive sustainable growth and improved profitability.
The position sits within a broader finance function operating across the UK and internationally. It combines hands-on financial management with strategic business partnering and leadership responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Act as a key member to the leadership team, supporting the delivery of strategic and financial objectives
- Own financial reporting, analysis, and performance commentary for the practice area, presenting insights to senior stakeholders
- Lead regular financial performance reviews, including agenda setting, constructive challenge, and follow-up actions
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, planning, and target-setting activities
- Identify areas of under- or over-performance and recommend actions to address underlying drivers
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, processes, and financial insight as business needs evolve
- Contribute to benchmarking and external insight to support decision-making and performance improvement
- Provide commercial input on new initiatives, investment cases, resourcing proposals, and client opportunities
- Build strong, credible relationships with senior leaders and operational teams
- Oversee inputs from other finance teams, including financial control and working capital
- Support and develop finance team members, including analysts and part-qualified professionals
Experience, skills set and/or qualifications required
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience
- Experience within a professional services
- Strong track record working with senior stakeholders and supporting strategic decision-making
- Commercially focused, with the ability to translate financial insight into business impact
- Confident communicator, comfortable presenting clear, insightful commentary at senior level
- Advanced Excel and management information capability, with a strong focus on data quality and usability
- Well organised, able to manage competing priorities and delegate effectively
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels
- Experience leading or mentoring qualified professionals
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment
Contract Information
- Salary up to £60k DOE
- Location Leeds (hybrid)
