[Job Description]

• Plan and execute complex projects according to strict deadlines, budget and quality benchmarks

• Effectively communicate project tasks and commitments to project team members and stakeholders (in Red Bend Japan and other company offices)

• Manage customer expectations, through tight collaboration with the sales team, R&D and corporate project management

• Work closely with customers (technical and executive level) in order to understand the requirements in a wider view (the “big picture”), and develop effective working relationships

• Work with groups across the organization to gather inputs and define the deliverables, resource requirements and work-plan for the project, and oversee their development and delivery ( “matrix management”)

• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team, and competition for resources between projects

• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and crises, and devise contingency plans as needed

[Relevant Technologies and Products]

• Typical projects involve embedded software development, client-side applications development for various mobile and automotive OSs (e.g., Android / BREW / Windows Phone / Linux / QNX) in various programming tools (e.g., C / C++ / Java / JEE), integration with proprietary server-side management tools and databases (e.g., Oracle), and using industry standards like OMA-DM

[In Charge Of]

• Delivery end-to-end, from contract / SOW signature till SOW sign-off

• Managing customer expectations, to avoid bad surprises and crises

• Managing all project aspects following strict methodology, facing customer project management, and in full collaboration with project management in headquarters

  • Project Gantt

  • Action items

  • Customer meetings, deliveries

• Submitting periodic updates to customer, to corporate project management and to headquarters

• Conducting Lesson Learn and Post Mortem sessions after the completion of each project for continuous improvement

Requirements

[Qualifications - Required]

Experience:

• 3 years of practical experience in implementation of complex software projects for mobile or automotive tier1 suppliers or OEMs; projects may involve both client and server side development and integration

• Experience with  software development projects

Language Skills:

• Native Japanese

• Comprehensive English skills, business English level (meetings, reports document creation and presentations)

Educational Background:

• A 4-year college engineering degree (preferably software)

• Experience with automotive related SW project management an advantage

• Excellent human relations, also experience in cross-cultural communication

• Experience in matrix management

• High verbal / presentation / rhetorical abilities
