Embankment Group is recruiting for a Senior Ecologist opportunity in Cambridgeshire.

This role is suited to an Ecologist who enjoys variety, technical delivery and the chance to manage projects across different sectors. It would be a good fit for someone looking to build on existing consultancy experience and step into a broader senior role.

About the Role

You will support the delivery of ecological consultancy services across a diverse range of projects. The position will include survey coordination, report writing, client liaison, project management and technical input into ecological assessments.

You will work as part of a wider ecology team, with opportunities to develop your technical expertise and support more junior colleagues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver ecology projects across Cambridgeshire and wider regions.
  • Undertake and coordinate ecological surveys.
  • Prepare technical reports, including PEAs, EcIAs and mitigation documents.
  • Support protected species and habitat assessment work.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities and project teams.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and deliverables.
  • Support junior ecologists with fieldwork and technical development.
  • Contribute to high-quality, practical ecological advice.

Skills and Experience

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in ecological consultancy.
  • Strong survey and report writing experience.
  • Good knowledge of UK ecology legislation and planning policy.
  • Experience managing projects or work packages.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A relevant environmental or ecology-related degree.
  • Membership of CIEEM, or working towards it.
  • Protected species licence experience would be useful.
