The business brings together Segafredo Zanetti, a globally recognised Italian coffee brand, with Bean Alliance’s established Australian roasting and distribution operations. Based in Melbourne, the business operates across coffee roasting, sourcing, blending, packaging, wholesale and distribution, supported by a national branch network.
With a diverse portfolio of coffee brands and a broad customer base across Australia, the business operates within a complex, multi-site environment where strong financial management and commercial insight are key to continued performance and growth.

The Opportunity
The business is undergoing an important period of integration and transformation, creating an opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to make a genuine impact. Initially, your focus will be firmly on strengthening the finance fundamentals, improving reporting accuracy and implementing appropriate processes and controls to support business growth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, investigating issues and creating structure in an evolving environment. Once the financial foundations are firmly established, the position will develop into a broader commercial role, providing analysis, insight and decision support across the business.

The Role
Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Senior Financial Controller, your initial priorities will include:

• Taking ownership of month-end financial reporting
• Completing and improving monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Strengthening balance sheet integrity and financial controls
• Preparing accurate and meaningful cash flow forecasts
• Investigating historical issues, anomalies and accounting discrepancies
• Improving the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of financial information
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Monitoring inventory, working capital, margins and cost of goods sold
• Improving finance processes, systems and reporting disciplines
• Supporting the continued integration and transformation of the finance function

As reporting accuracy and financial controls improve, the role will increasingly focus on:

• Financial modelling and commercial analysis
• Margin, cost and profitability analysis
• Supporting operational and strategic decision-making
• Partnering with stakeholders across sales, operations, procurement and supply chain
• Developing business cases and identifying performance improvement opportunities

About You
You will be a technically capable accountant who understands that strong commercial insight starts with accurate and trusted financial information.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• CA or CPA qualification
• Strong financial accounting and month-end reporting experience
• Demonstrated experience managing balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• Strong cash flow forecasting capability
• The ability to identify issues, investigate anomalies and implement practical solutions
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, hands-on and improvement-focused approach

Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, wholesale, distribution or another inventory-based environment will be highly regarded. Exposure to SAP Business One, business integration, systems implementation or finance transformation would also be advantageous.
