About the Position
The Financial Accountant will take responsibility for a broad range of financial accounting activities, supporting the accuracy and timeliness of the organisation's financial information.
With exposure across month-end, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory requirements, payroll accounting, forecasting and financial reporting, this role offers variety and the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the business.
You will also play an active role in identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems, making this an ideal position for an accountant who enjoys being hands-on and wants to have a tangible impact beyond the numbers.
Duties
• Manage the month-end close process and coordinate key reporting deadlines
• Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts and overheads
• Oversee the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts and associated master data
• Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accounting records remain accurate and up to date
• Prepare monthly IAS and BAS obligations across the relevant entities
• Coordinate the annual FBT return and assist with other statutory requirements
• Process monthly payroll journals, accruals and associated accounting entries
• Assist with monthly and annual financial statement preparation
• Partner with managers on budgeting, forecasting and monitoring business performance
• Analyse costs and financial information, highlighting potential risks and opportunities
• Work with external auditors, financial institutions and other regulatory stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes and improve systems
• Provide support across the wider Finance function and contribute to ad hoc projects
About You
You will be an experienced Financial Accountant who enjoys variety and is comfortable working across both the detail and the broader commercial picture.
This role will suit someone who is naturally curious, takes accountability for their work and enjoys working with people outside of Finance. You'll be confident managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You will have:
• CA or CPA qualification
• Previous experience in a Financial Accountant or comparable accounting position
• Industry experience, with manufacturing or FMCG experience highly regarded
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and an understanding of month-end processes
• Experience across reconciliations, financial reporting and statutory compliance
• Strong Excel capability and confidence working across accounting systems
• SAP Business One experience would be advantageous, although not essential
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders
• A practical, proactive approach and willingness to get involved across the business
• An interest in improving processes, systems and ways of working
