Bayside Group is partnering with a leading Australian Government scientific organisation to recruit a Laboratory Analyst to join a specialist Inorganic Chemistry team based in Macquarie Park.
This role would suit a hands-on laboratory professional with practical sample preparation experience and a strong understanding of quality, documentation and safe laboratory practice. You will support trace element analysis workflows across environmental, food, pharmaceutical and related sample types.
This is not a graduate entry-level role. The team is looking for someone who has already worked in a laboratory environment and can bring sound practical habits, attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly in a regulated, high-throughput setting.
The role
Working within the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory and reporting to a Senior Analyst, you will support routine analytical testing programs with a strong focus on sample preparation for trace element analysis.

The role
Working within the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory and reporting to a Senior Analyst, you will support routine analytical testing programs with a strong focus on sample preparation for trace element analysis.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Preparing environmental, food, pharmaceutical, water, soil, wastewater, biota or related samples for trace element analysis
- Performing routine sample preparation, digestion, dilution and associated wet chemistry processes
- Preparing and managing batch QC samples in line with documented methods and quality requirements
- Supporting workflows linked to ICP-MS, ICP-OES and related inorganic analysis techniques
- Following laboratory SOPs, WH&S requirements and quality procedures
- Maintaining accurate records to support traceability and defensible analytical outcomes
- Working collaboratively with senior analysts and laboratory colleagues to meet testing priorities and turnaround times
- Supporting a busy laboratory environment where accuracy, consistency and attention to detail are critical
About you
You will be a reliable and detail-focused laboratory professional who is comfortable working with routine, quality-critical laboratory processes. You do not need to be a senior scientist, but you do need genuine hands-on laboratory experience and the ability to work accurately in a structured environment.
You will ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in chemistry, science or a related discipline
- Practical laboratory experience, ideally within environmental, food, pharmaceutical, water, industrial or commercial testing
- Hands-on experience in sample preparation for trace element, inorganic or metals analysis
- Experience with digestion, dilution, batch preparation, wet chemistry or similar sample preparation processes
- Understanding of QA/QC requirements in a NATA, ISO 17025, GMP, GLP or regulated laboratory environment
- Knowledge of ICP-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-AES, CV-AFS or related analytical techniques
- Strong attention to detail and confidence following SOPs
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing laboratory priorities
- A collaborative, reliable and professional approach
