Our client is a respected and longstanding Tasmanian road surfacing contractor seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Contracts Supervisor to support the continued growth of their business.
This is a diverse role that combines tender preparation, contract administration, project coordination, quality oversight, business development and occasional field support, providing the opportunity to influence projects from opportunity identification through to final invoicing and close-out.
The role also provides scope to act as a SHEQ Champion, promoting safety, health, environment and quality awareness across operational activities.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Manager, you will oversee the commercial and contractual lifecycle of projects while working closely with operations teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
You will play a key role in securing new work, managing contract obligations, supporting project delivery and maintaining strong client relationships across local government, civil construction and private sector markets.

Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Estimating
- Monitor tender portals and procurement opportunities.
- Prepare and coordinate tenders, quotations and pricing submissions.
- Develop high-quality tender documentation and capability statements.
- Maintain tender registers and submission records.
- Support pricing strategies for significant projects and contracts.
- Support safe work practices by championing safety, health, environmental and quality across the business.
- Manage contracts from award through to final close-out.
- Prepare progress claims, invoices and contract documentation.
- Monitor project costs and identify variances.
- Administer variations and contractual changes.
- Maintain accurate project records and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate project close-out, defect management and final claims.
- Support quality management processes throughout project delivery.
- Assist with inspections, audits and compliance requirements.
- Monitor quality records and non-conformance reporting.
- Ensure adherence to WH&S and regulatory obligations.
- Oversee the reporting, recording and follow-up of safety incidents, hazards and corrective actions to support timely resolution and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify upcoming opportunities and market trends.
- Support business growth initiatives.
- Represent the business professionally with clients and stakeholders.
- Provide occasional site-based support and project coordination.
- Assist with scheduling, resource planning and logistics.
- Support project teams with documentation and reporting.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and traffic management arrangements.
To be successful, you will bring: Experience in tendering, estimating, contract administration or project coordination within civil construction, road surfacing, infrastructure or related industries.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, variations, progress claims and project close-out processes.
- Knowledge of civil construction or road surfacing operations.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience preparing professional submissions and documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Sound knowledge of WH&S requirements within construction environments.
- Confidence in supporting safety reporting processes, hazard identification and incident escalation in a construction or operational environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A current driver's licence.
- Qualifications in Civil Construction, Project Management, Contract Administration or a related field.
- White Card.
- Traffic Management training.
- Experience within asphalt paving or spray sealing operations.
- A current HR truck licence.
- Experience with estimating, project management or contract management systems.
- Knowledge of ISO quality management frameworks.
