We care partnering with Tasmania's Department of Health in their search for multiple Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurses.
The Cath Lab supports a broad range of procedures including coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), structural heart interventions, complex device implantation, and electrophysiology procedures, utilising contemporary state of the art technology and evidence‑based practice. The Cath lab team provide an on-call Code STEMI and full 24-hour emergency service.
The success nurse will work with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team comprising cardiologists, nursing staff, cardiac technicians, anaesthetics, and support personnel, all committed to excellence in patient‑centred care.
The Role:
The role encompasses patient assessment, preparation, and intra‑procedural care with a strong focus on patient safety, clinical excellence, and effective communication. Cath Lab nurses are integral to maintaining procedural flow, anticipating clinical and technical needs, and responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
Nurses in the Cath Lab will demonstrate advanced clinical skills, including haemodynamic monitoring, medication management, sterile technique, radiation safety awareness, and emergency response. They work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal procedural outcomes and a positive patient experience.

The Cath Lab Nurse is responsible for:
- Delivering nursing care across the pre‑procedural, intra‑procedural, and post‑procedural phases of cardiac investigations and interventions.
- Performing Cath Lab roles including scrub nursing, circulating/scout duties, and nurse‑led procedural sedation, within scope of practice.
- Supporting a broad range of procedures, including diagnostic coronary angiography, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology studies, cardiac device implantation, and structural heart procedures.
- Monitoring haemodynamic status and responding promptly to clinical deterioration or procedural complications.
- Maintaining compliance with infection prevention, sterile technique, radiation safety, and clinical governance standards.
- Contributing to efficient workflow, case management, and optimal use of Cath Lab resources.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to support safe and coordinated care.
- Regularly participates in emergency and on‑call services as required, including time‑critical cardiac response pathways.
- Contributing to education, quality improvement, and service development activities within the Cath Lab.
- A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience working in cardiology or a comparable acute care setting (e.g. coronary care, intensive care, emergency department, or other high acuity clinical environments).
- A minimum of five (5) years post graduate nursing experience, demonstrating progressive development of clinical knowledge, skills, and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment, monitoring, and management of acutely unwell and clinically deteriorating patients.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in fast paced clinical environments is highly desirable.
- Competence in cardiac rhythm and ECG interpretation and advanced haemodynamic monitoring skills
- Knowledge of interventional cardiology and structural heart procedures
- Understanding of radiation safety principles
- Exposure with nurse‑led procedural sedation
- Sterile technique and procedural flow management
- Current or working towards certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Competency in peripheral intravenous cannulation.
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to rapid changes within a fast-paced Cath Lab environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and professional practice skills.
- At this stage, only applications with Full Australian Working Rights are being considered.
- Relocation support is available for inter-state applicants.
- Remuneration range $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata).
- Multiple, Permanent, part time, day worker position (with on-call), working up to 64 hours per fortnight with a minimum of 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
