Senior Project Manager

Working Arrangements

• On-site presence required when working with finance teams
• Flexibility to work off-site otherwise
• 3 days per week 

This is a hands-on contract role suited to a business-focused Project Manager who understands IT projects and local government environments, can work closely with finance teams, and is comfortable leading user acceptance testing (UAT) through a period of significant change.

The Role
You will work closely with the finance team to complete UAT 2 new systems, supporting the transition from a highly customised on-premise system to an off-the-shelf, configurable solution. This change is expected to challenge established ways of working, so strong stakeholder engagement and change leadership skills are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating UAT 
• Working on-site with finance teams to support testing, issue resolution, and readiness
• Managing engagement with the vendor
• Supporting business change and managing stakeholder expectations during the transition
• Ensuring testing outcomes support a successful implementation and handover

About You

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering business change initiatives
• Strong understanding of finance systems, UAT, and technology-enabled change
• Experience working in local government or similarly complex public sector environments
• Confident, pragmatic, and comfortable working closely with finance teams
• Able to manage resistance when standardised systems replace bespoke solutions
