Position Title:                    SENIOR PLANT MANAGER

 

Reports To:                        Area Manager or Operations Manager

               Major Responsibilities:


1.                  Exceeds KPI goals as defined in the annual operating plan including batch tolerances, percentage overtime, start-up and shut-down time, etc.  


2.                  Work closely with other areas of the Company, including maintenance, the shop, accounting, HR, etc. to ensure smooth administrative operation of the plant(s). 


3.                  Direct, coach, communicate, motivate, and develop skills of direct reports through effective, consistent and timely training, recognition, discipline and managing hours.  


4.                  Oversee the plant safety, DOT and environmental working toward having no written violations (regulatory or corporate), improving the safety record from the previous year including RIR, VRIR, lost days, etc. 


5.                  Exceeds quality standards for the plant by eliminating rejected loads of concrete and maintaining high in-tolerances on all batched concrete. 


6.                  Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.



Specific Duties:


1.                  Oversee, and assist where needed, the daily operations of the plants. 


2.                  Oversee the control, maintenance and reporting of all inventories including performing regular stockpile/silo zeroing. 


3.                  Manage the daily responsibilities of plant personnel including directing work, disciplining when required, conducting periodic performance reviews, training employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, controlling hours, and identifying potential backup plant operators.   


4.                  Assist with the hiring of employees by seeking, interviewing and recommending applicants for hire.  This includes MTOs, Loader Operators, and Plant Operators.

5.                  Oversee plant maintenance and repairs as needed through conducting monthly site and plant inspections for safety, operational and cleanliness purposes to ensure plants are batching within tolerances.   This includes working with Maintenance and Dispatch for any scheduled repairs. 


6.                  Oversee and assist with material ordering, maintaining plant supplies and employee uniform needs. 


7.                  Assist dispatch to schedule daily and weekend coverage to ensure meeting customer’s demands. This includes scheduling Saturday rotations and communicating with Sales and Dispatch for upcoming jobs. 


8.                  Conduct weekly/monthly truck inspections for cleanliness and MTO responsible maintenance. 


9.                  Working with the Shop Manager and Dispatch, schedule truck repairs and periodic maintenance. 


10.               Oversee the management of radios, Trackit tablets, and drivecam to ensure they are properly working.  


11.               Ensure QC log book is maintained daily with air and slump information for QC qualification.  



12.               Maintain good working relationships with all company personnel to best promote the company.


13.               Promote safety and environmental compliance by performing regular employee safety meetings, ensuring all company and regulatory required training is current, all plant inspections (utilizing Mapistry) are current, plant and facilities are clean and neat, and requirements for water, air quality and DMR’s are properly managed.     


14.               Ensure direct reports comply with all DOT requirements including but not limited to medical cards, commercial drivers license, motor vehicle reports, abides by legal load limits, controls maximum hours worked, CSA, etc.   


15.               Exhibit good communication, aptitude and decision-making skills. 


16.               All other duties or special projects as assigned by management.
