Currently, we are partnering/recruiting/searching for an Electrical Authorised Person (m/w/d) for a major data centre project in Munich, Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the safe operation, isolation, switching, and energisation of electrical systems within the authorised scope.
- Manage and control electrical Permit-to-Work (PTW), isolation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and switching procedures.
- Review and approve electrical switching schedules, method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Ensure electrical systems are safely isolated, proved dead, earthed, and returned to service in accordance with approved procedures.
- Coordinate electrical isolations and energisation activities with construction, commissioning, engineering, and subcontractor teams.
- Review electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, and distribution drawings.
- Support electrical testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and energisation activities.
- Oversee safe working practices across LV and MV electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of switching operations, isolations, permits, electrical system status, and authorisations.
- Ensure all electrical activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures, applicable legislation, and relevant electrical standards.
- Attend and contribute to electrical coordination, commissioning, planning, and safety meetings.
- Liaise with subcontractors, specialist vendors, commissioning teams, and project management to ensure safe and coordinated electrical activities.
- Identify and challenge unsafe working practices and stop work where necessary to maintain electrical safety.
- Support the development and maintenance of electrical operational and commissioning documentation.
- Minimum 5+ years experience working within electrical construction, commissioning, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Authorised Person (AP) on large-scale commercial, industrial, or data centre projects.
- Strong experience with LV and MV electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and distribution equipment.
- Formal Electrical Authorised Person / Electrical Safety training and authorisation appropriate to the systems and voltage levels being managed.
- Strong understanding of Permit-to-Work, LOTO, safe isolation, switching, and energisation procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting electrical testing, commissioning, and energisation activities.
- Knowledge of German electrical standards and DIN VDE requirements is highly desirable.
- Experience working on data centre or other critical infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Relevant electrical engineering or electrical trade qualification.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple project teams and subcontractors.
- High level of attention to detail with a strong commitment to electrical safety.
- German language skills are desirable; strong English communication skills are essential.
