As the Client Director & Team Lead, you will take ownership of a significant client portfolio while leading strategic initiatives, driving commercial growth, and mentoring a developing, high-performing team. This role is suited to a senior insurance professional who thrives in relationship management, complex negotiations, and delivering exceptional client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic management and growth of a high-value commercial client portfolio.
- Develop and execute risk placement strategies, including underwriting submissions, policy negotiations, and endorsements.
- Provide thorough risk analysis and tailored insurance solutions aligned with client needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, insurers, underwriters, and industry stakeholders.
- Manage, mentor, coach, and support your direct team members to foster a high-performance culture and continue their individual progression.
- Communicate internally on complex claims matters to assist the claims team in advocating for favourable client outcomes.
- Drive business development initiatives and identify new market opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and portfolio profitability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate across teams to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
About You
- Proven experience in a commercial insurance broking, running your own large portfolio,
- Prior experience of having direct reports is desirable, not essential.
- Strong leadership qualities and people skills, with the ability to mentor and influence teams.
- Extensive experience managing large or complex client portfolios.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded with strong financial and strategic acumen.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification is essential.
- A Diploma in Financial Services is highly regarded.
