The business has a strong operational focus, with finance playing an important role in understanding the relationship between production, pricing, margins, working capital and profitability.

As the organisation continues to invest in its people, systems and commercial capability, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance leader to take responsibility for its commercial finance and business partnering function.


The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Head of Commercial Finance will lead the commercial finance function, working closely with senior leadership and operational stakeholders to drive financial performance and support strategic decision making.

This is a highly visible leadership position that goes beyond traditional financial reporting. You'll be responsible for ensuring the business understands its key financial and operational drivers, challenging commercial decisions and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.

Leading a team of Management Accountants and Commercial Analysts, you'll also play an important role in strengthening the business partnering capability across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the commercial finance and business partnering function, providing financial leadership across key operational and commercial areas
• Working closely with senior executives and operational leaders to understand business performance, identify opportunities and influence decision-making
• Driving analysis across profitability, pricing, product and customer margins, and cost-to-serve
• Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, ensuring financial targets align with commercial and operational priorities
• Providing insight into EBITDA performance, working capital, cash flow and key financial drivers
• Supporting strategic initiatives, including capital investment decisions, business cases and growth opportunities
• Developing financial models, scenario analysis and commercial evaluations to support business decisions
• Identifying risks and opportunities across manufacturing performance, costs, inventory and margins
• Improving the quality of management reporting, commercial insights and performance measures
• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of finance professionals, building stronger commercial capability across the function
• Supporting systems implementation and improvements in reporting, data and financial processes

About You

You'll be an experienced commercial finance leader who understands the operational complexities of a manufacturing or product based business and knows how to translate financial information into practical commercial outcomes.

Beyond your technical capability, you'll be confident engaging with senior executives, challenging assumptions and leading conversations that influence the direction of the business.

You'll ideally bring:

• CA/CPA qualification with substantial experience in commercial finance, FP&A or finance business partnering
• A strong background within manufacturing, FMCG, wholesale or another product-based environment
• Experience leading commercial finance teams and developing high-performing finance professionals
• Strong understanding of pricing, margins, profitability, working capital and operational performance
• Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability, with the ability to evaluate complex commercial scenarios
• Proven ability to build relationships with senior operational and commercial stakeholders
• Experience supporting strategic decisions, capital investment and business improvement initiatives
• Strong systems capability and an interest in improving how financial and operational data is used
• A commercially minded, proactive approach with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
