Dunedin Hospital is a 300-bed tertiary level hospital with a full range of elective and acute surgical specialties, serving a population of 340,000 across the beautiful Southern region of New Zealand. The Anaesthesia Service is equipped with modern technology and supported by highly skilled technicians and PACU staff, with a new hospital underway.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This is a full-time role with a 1:8 weekend on-call roster. You'll provide anaesthesia across a wide range of surgical specialties, with opportunities to teach and develop subspecialty interests, including perioperative medicine.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A solid general anaesthesia skill set
- It would be desirable to have a specialist interest in perioperative medicine
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A passion for teaching and continuous improvement
- Solution-focused and demonstrates excellent decision making and priority setting in a clinical environment
- You will hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in the Scope of Practice of Anaesthesia, or be eligible for Provisional Vocational registration if trained overseas.
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) is preferred for applicants from New Zealand or Australia, but not essential for overseas-trained candidates.
