About the Team and Workplace:
Join a small, close-knit team of dedicated psychiatrists who are part of a wider network delivering high-quality mental health care across all age groups and specialist services — including maternal mental health, early psychosis, and addictions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the supervision and training of registrars while providing leadership to the broader clinical team.
What You Will Be Doing:
As our Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you’ll provide outpatient care from our Whangārei-based service as well as rural clinics across the district. You’ll be working closely with a specialist C&A Psychiatry team and maintain strong links with paediatric and child health services.
Your work will involve using broad-based, multidisciplinary approaches and collaborating with both government agencies (e.g. Oranga Tamariki, Ministry of Education) and non-government organisations to support young people and their whānau.

- Eligibility for specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in the Psychiatry vocational scope of practice.
- FRANZCP and/or postgraduate qualifications in Child and Youth Psychiatry (or near completion).
- A collaborative approach and strong communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary and interagency teams.
- An interest in teaching, leadership, and continuous improvement in clinical practice.
