Manager, Planning & Community Development

Reporting to the Director Community & Corporate Services, the Manager Planning & Community Development leads a diverse portfolio spanning planning, community development, public and environmental health, building and compliance, community engagement, and economic development. The role is responsible for ensuring statutory obligations are met while creating opportunities that help residents, businesses and communities thrive.

You'll be a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic advice to senior executives while leading a team of professionals, consultants and contractors. Success in the role will come from your ability to balance strategy with delivery, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive positive outcomes across a broad range of functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning and community development functions.
• Provide strategic advice and leadership across the organisation.
• Oversee planning, building, environmental health and compliance activities.
• Develop and deliver community programs, projects and initiatives that support growth and liveability.
• Foster strong relationships with residents, businesses, community groups and government stakeholders.
• Lead, develop and support a high-performing team.
• Drive continuous improvement, policy development and service innovation.

You'll be comfortable operating in a complex regulatory environment while maintaining a strong customer and community focus. Relevant qualifications and leadership experience in planning, community development, government, community services, or a related field will be highly regarded.
