Database Reliability Engineer (Remote)

We're looking for an experienced Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join a high-profile project supporting a leading organisation. This is a fully remote opportunity where you'll act as the database subject matter expert, helping to ensure the reliability, performance and resilience of a large-scale production database estate.

You'll be responsible for architecture reviews, performance tuning, disaster recovery validation, observability and monitoring, incident escalation, and mentoring customer DBAs. The environment is primarily MongoDB, with Percona/MySQL and PostgreSQL also in scope.

We're looking for someone with:

• 7+ years' experience in database engineering or DBRE within production environments
• Strong hands-on expertise with MongoDB (replica sets, sharding, performance tuning, backup & DR)
• Deep knowledge of MySQL/Percona and PostgreSQL
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and PMM
• Linux administration and scripting skills
• Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with customers or stakeholders

Experience in a safety-critical environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
