A local council in the south-east are seeking an experienced Community Development Officer to join their team on a short-term contract, with the opportunity to work across community programs, engagement and place-based initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with diverse communities and developing programs that respond to local needs.

About the Role
You will be responsible for:
  • Engaging with community members, including marginalised and hard-to-reach groups
  • Developing, delivering and evaluating community programs, projects, activities and events
  • Building strong relationships with community groups, service providers, government agencies and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting volunteer programs and community leadership development
  • Identifying local community needs and priorities
  • Preparing reports, plans and correspondence
  • Supporting community centre communications, social media and promotional activities
  • Providing administrative and customer service support when required
About You To be successful, you will have:
  • Relevant qualifications in Community Development, Community Services, Health Promotion or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in community development, engagement, program delivery or place-based community work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good Microsoft Office and social media skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively while also being self-motivated
