Director of Nursing - Private Mental Health Hospital (Fixed-Term Contract)

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Nursing to join our private mental health hospital on a fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experience mental health leader to provide strategic and operational leadership across our inpatient mental health services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
 
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead a multidisciplinary nursing workforce, oversee clinical governance frameworks, and foster a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.

About the Role As Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing strategic leadership and direction for all nursing services.
  • Ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Leading workforce planning, recruitment, retention and professional development initiatives.
  • Driving quality improvement, risk management and clinical governance activities.
  • Supporting a positive workplace culture that promotes recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.
  • Managing operational performance, budgets and service delivery outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals and executive stakeholders.
About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • ADON or DON leadership experience within mental health services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance, accreditation and quality management.
  • Strong strategic, financial and operational management skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Health Management, Leadership or a related discipline (highly regarded).
  • A proven ability to lead teams through change and deliver sustainable outcomes.
