My client, a leading Structural Steel Company based in Kildare, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take overall responsibility for the commercial function across a portfolio of structural steel projects.

This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Managing Director with responsibility for overseeing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and Estimators.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving commercial performance, project profitability, cost control and contractual compliance, while working closely with senior management, clients, suppliers and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all commercial activities across multiple structural steel projects.
• Manage, mentor and provide commercial leadership to a team of Quantity Surveyors and Estimators.
• Oversee estimating, tendering and bid management processes.
• Manage project budgets, cash flow and financial reporting.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review and manage variations, claims and final accounts.
• Monitor project profitability, commercial risks and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Report commercial performance and key project metrics to senior management.
• Drive consistency and best practice across the commercial and estimating functions.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Extensive commercial experience within structural steel, steel fabrication or heavy construction.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Previous experience leading and developing QS and estimating teams.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with a clear understanding of project profitability.
• Excellent contract negotiation and contract management skills.
• Strong knowledge of variations, claims, valuations and final accounts.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
