Position Overview
Local company is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Overhead Crane Operator / Warehouse Associate to join our team at our Girard, Ohio facility. This position plays a critical role in the daily operations of our steel warehouse by safely unloading, identifying, storing, and loading steel plate products while supporting general warehouse operations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating remote-controlled overhead cranes in a steel warehouse environment. However, we are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate 10-ton, 20-ton, and 30-ton remote-controlled overhead cranes to move steel plate throughout the warehouse.
- Unload incoming steel plate shipments from railcars.
- Accurately identify, mark, and label steel plates with individual identification numbers.
- Load customer trucks according to shipping orders while ensuring product accuracy.
- Operate burn table equipment as needed.
- Perform basic computer data entry and warehouse documentation.
- Utilize tape measures and perform basic fractional measurements accurately.
- Assist with warehouse organization, housekeeping, and general maintenance.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Work collaboratively with warehouse staff to maintain an efficient operation.
- Previous overhead crane experience preferred, particularly in a steel warehouse environment.
- Experience operating 10-ton, 20-ton, and 30-ton remote-controlled overhead cranes is highly desirable.
- Steel warehouse, metal service center, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and data entry experience preferred.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and understand fractional measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work in an industrial warehouse environment throughout the shift.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and cross-train in multiple warehouse functions.
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Weekends off
- Closed on most major holidays
- Overtime is occasional and may occur during the week or on weekends as business needs require.
