About the Role:
This drainage position/s plays a key role in installing, maintaining, and repairing drainage systems on residential, commercial, and civil sites.

You’ll work as part of a field team to complete drainage and pipe installation tasks to specification, ensuring compliance with New Zealand standards and site plans.

Your work will directly contribute to safe, reliable, and compliant drainage outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
* Leading Hand or foreman experience.
* Install and lay drainage pipes according to plans, specifications, and site requirements.
* Read and interpret drainage and site plans to determine pipe routes, levels, and connection points
* Operate heavy machinery for trenching, pipe cutting, compaction, and back filling.
* Prepare sites by setting out, excavating, and trenching in line with safety and project requirements.
* Work safely in confined spaces, including access, set-up, and completion of drainage tasks
* Assist with testing, inspection, and verification of installed drainage systems.
* Carry out basic repairs and maintenance on drainage lines and associated components.
* Maintain a clean, organised work area and complete required job records and site documentation.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in drain laying and pipe installation on construction or civil sites.
* Ability to accurately read and interpret drainage plans and drawings.
* Competent in the safe use of drainage tools, machinery, and excavation equipment.
* Experience working in trenches and confined spaces, with strong safety awareness.
* Sound understanding of New Zealand building and drainage codes and standards.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and site procedures.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a site-based team.
* Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.

Desirable Skills:
* Experience on both residential and commercial drainage projects.
* Exposure to CCTV inspection, pressure testing, or other drainage testing methods.
* Ability to operate small plant such as excavators, compactors, or pumps.
* Familiarity with digital tools for recording site measurements or job information.

Qualifications:
* Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in drain laying or related field.
* NZ Registered or Certifying Drain layer status (highly regarded)
* Confined Space Entry certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
* Current Site Safe or equivalent construction safety card (advantageous)
* Class 2 licence RTW with reliable transport.
