Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects end-to-end: pre-construction planning, resource coordination, site delivery, and final handover.
- Review tenders, develop methodologies, and prepare robust construction programmes.
- Manage site teams (Site Managers, Foremen, and subcontractors) with clear direction and accountability.
- Drive financial performance — monitor budgets, control costs, and proactively manage variations.
- Ensure rigorous quality assurance, safety standards, and compliance with NZ building regulations.
- Maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving.
- Identify and implement improvements in construction methods and project delivery.
Essential
- Minimum 10 years construction experience with a strong track record in project management.
- In-depth knowledge of concrete and vertical construction (critical).
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen — confident reading and managing budgets and forecasts.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills — confident dealing with clients, consultants, and site teams.
- Full NZ work entitlement.
- Tertiary qualification or trade background in construction/civil engineering.
- Detailed knowledge of NZ building regulations, territorial authority processes, and consents.
- A natural leader who earns respect through expertise, fairness, and accountability.
- Commercially astute with strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player who builds high-performing site teams and supports the development of apprentices and junior staff.
- Highly organised and solutions-focused under pressure.
